The Brother Intellifax 2920 is a combination fax machine, copier and monochrome laser printer. Designed for the SME market, it uses the Brother Intellifax 2920 Toner cartridge. It is suitable for the businesses ranging from the busy professional office up to the medium size business enterprise. The Brother Intellifax 2920 Printer permits sharing of the fax and copy facilities by numerous users and offers a number of networking configurations. For daily use, maintenance is reduced by the front loading, high capacity paper tray, while one of the highest duty cycles in the field reduces departmental maintenance.
For high-speed faxing the Brother Intellifax 2920 is Super G3 compatible, offers data compression in MR, MMR, JBIG and MH formats. Sending faxes from networked computers is a simply matter. There are 4 options for setting the operations. These allow the user to use the unit in the way that suits the office best. They are:
Manual. In Manual there are two sub-modes. The Intellifax 2920 can be set in Distinctive Ring mode or Full Manual. In Full Manual, each call has to be answered live. An answering machine cannot be used. Once answered, the fax ring alerts the 2920. The user must keep the line open until the Brother Intellifax 2920 picks up. Full Manual is best implemented where the line does not receive primarily faxes. If the line is networked with computers, the Distinctive Ring feature must be activated.
The External TAD mode (Telephone Answering Device) enables the Brother Intellifax 2920 to work exclusively with an external answering machine. Voice calls made to the unit phone line are automatically dumped to a dedicated voice mail system. Fax calls are, of course, received and handled by the 2920. In External TAD mode, voice calls cannot be forwarded anywhere but to the dedicated voice mail line.
In Fax/Tel mode the 2920 is the receiver of all incoming calls. Voice calls are routed to whatever extension has been assigned, fax calls are handled by the unit. No answering machines are permitted in this mode. This ban includes answering machines plugged into unrelated wall jacks, as well as and office voice mail system.
The Fax Only mode is self-explanatory and is intended for dedicated fax lines only.
The 2920's media and document handling range is from 8.5 x 11 to 3.9 x 5.8 inches. Output trays capacity is 100 sheets. Input tray capacity is 250 sheets. There is a top limit of 20 sheet feed and only plain paper is support.
The Brother Intellifax 2920 Printer has a copying speed of 15 pages per minute when used as a photo-copier. Dpi resolution is 200 x 300. As a monochrome copier, the gray scale is important. Brother knows this and has the unit fine tuned to distinguish and print 64 gray-scale half tones. The reduction - enlargement range is down to 50% or the original or up to 200%. Print preset capacity is 99 copies without resetting.
